Best type of Nutrition

I recently checked out this DVD that caught my eye because of the title "Food Matters: You are what you eat". I learned some really good stuff and nothing that comes of a suprise such as "Raw" being much healthier than "cooked" food.

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables should make up more than half of meals or someone's diet overall which most people do not follow, and as a result the health of us has to suffer.

The truth is vitamins are okay and the body was meant to heal itself when it is being taken care of correctly. Nowadays though abusing the body is accepted because the corruption, as well as evil is ensuring the growth of hospitals and pharmeceutical companies.

What a wonderful planet Earth and Universe God has created with abundant resources that no man-made things are needed for perfect health.

If your food or medicine is not natural than something isn't right.

While attending the Aveda Institute, I was inspired and convinced after watching Food, Inc that any food produced from a cow would not be kasher for me. When I go in the grocery store and look in the meat section to see steak, ground this or that I am somewhat nauseated. How amazing to know what is really going on and although I still eat chicken, seafood and lamb when I go out, they are something that I do not cook.

I only drink Almond Milk and I absolutely love the goodness of Coconut Milk because of the sweetness and flavor it adds to meals.

There is a better way, I know there has to be and Nutrition is the key because than will our bodies and self be in the best shape.

Both of these movies were released in 2008 and I did not see them until another four years and what a eye-opener to what really matters in life.

I am not consenting to the poison that is being produced for consumers as well as the animal kingdom. All the pollution in our bodies and Mother Earth comes from all the sinful acts done by man.

I am praying for the discipline and self-respect for people to say I disagree with how things are going and literally I am tired of being "sick" from the junk and crap dished out by corrupt ones.

Talk about evil and bad intentions, that are no longer going to unnoticed.

I love how the latest Time magazine is spotlighting Wall Street, and I am amazed because consumers (everyday people) are continuing to take the bullshit.

Let me tell you there is a better way and the best is yet to come. I've told someone before and this is the everyday reality, " I am fighting for my life."

When will we wake-up and know how to value ourselves?

This is a joke...Women lie, men lie; but numbers do not lie.

Sometimes I just am amazed at the threats and lies people have the nerves to be feeding me, it's like they really are begging for me to slap the taste they do not even have to begin with out of their mouths.

Darlings, God is more than Good and prayer truly works.

Protein packed

I am not going to be getting back to focusing on Wellness Wednesdays or really you could consider this information weird but I am sharing anyways. For my Wellness Wednesdays I will be combining a recapture of what I had to nourish my body for the previous week.

My new favorite drink and the most natural way I know how to get my protein has been ewith one of Naked's "Protein Zone" drinks. If anyone knows anything about me, than they know that I really love chocolate and than with bananas I am making the right choice. You can drink it for breakfast, lunch and dinner because it is very sweet and appropriately filling for anytime.

You may not be able to hear me but this is just a preview from my Day 7.

Day 3

On day 3 which was this past Saturday I really enjoyed some frozen yogurt in the flavors of Coconut and Peanut Butter. My fast is all about cutting out meats completely as well as seafood and heavy carbs. I'm not completely sure what seperates ice cream from frozen yogurt but I know that if yogurt is apart of the equation than that is a plus for your health.

Day 2

For Friday I did really well but I can really feel and see how this challenge I am putting my body through is reacting. I am actually putting myself through a lot and can compare myself to a addict going into withdrawal with my addiction being sugars. I did pretty well and had a great lunch at Tuscana West choosing only from the soups which is okay to have since the ingredients are only olive oil, vegetables and herb seasonings.

I had the Minestrone soup blended and than the Pappa al Pomodoro without the diced bread that was all about the tomatoes. When it comes to vitamin C and getting some extra filling on this fast nothing compares to Tomatoes. There are the V8 juices that are tomatoes based which is good , but nothing compares to having a nice warm soup.

Going through my second day of fasting I can admit I seem kind of fatigued were there was actually noticable bags under my eyes which is not usual for me. Now I realize that not only are cucumbers good grinded in my drink but I can use a slice on both of my eyes.

Day1

The first drink of the day was 12 oz smoothie by Odwalla.
This really are some good stuff and more where this comes from.

Hot Mint tea in a Venti (Large) size cup

The total amount of ounces I consumed all the way to 7 PM today as be roughly around 275 which is okay but I know I have to find a way to suplement my need for protein or craving the things I would normally eat. I am quite proud of myself and anyone else who can go through the challenge of consuming only liquids for a whole month. Trust me the world is not going to end and you will not drop dead, in fact you may become more hydrated than you have ever been before.

Safe meat

For a beautiful Sunday such as today I decided to go with a taste of the Middle East and I was determined to have some lamb for dinner. I missed out on some grilled lamb last Sunday while at the Greek Festival but now for the first time I tried my hand at cooking it. I already marinated my lamb for a while before I would search some recipes and the perfect one which I choose first was the Lemon & Oregano Lamb Chops from eatingwell.com

The way I prepared my food was similar but I did not have Tahini sauce which will be something I have to try next time. How amazing I choose, lemon juice, oregano, some cinnamon, hot sauce, a little salt and pepper to let my lamb shoulders to marinate in before I found such a delightful recipe. Lamb Chops are more juicier that the leaner lamb shoulders. Out of all the meats I believe lamb to be the most safest of meats because of the way they are raised compared to the other meats, you can learn more here. This how you can handle lamb safely and to prevent any cross contamination I found at this about.com page. So my lamb came from a Halal meat market and a Kosher market is safe when purchasing lamb as well. Oh and if you are not convinced or have not known what you been missing, check out this page.

Once the meal is complete it will be served with Jasmine rice, zucchini and squash. Which the lamb is roasted or just before it was put into the oven I added one small chopped onion, two chopped carrots, half of a green bell pepper and less than a half of a yellow bell pepper chopped. My lamb was cooked in Almond Oil as well as the squash and zucchini. Also, to keep up the whole middle eastern dinner going a slice of Pan Challah is served with a serving of  Lemon and Oregano Lamb.

This is my more vegetable infused and spicier version before it was put in the oven and after.

On my plate, dinner is served.
With this safe meat which is famously known as lamb you will be taken on a trip to the Middle East.

Wellness Wednesdays: Avocados

For Wednesdays the focus will be on nutrition and what is being digested in the body that also has benefits for the skin. Avocados are so beneficial in many ways such as heart health, preventing signs of aging and moisture for the skin. I know that all of the vegetarians and die hard vegans will love all the pictures I have of avocados. If all the ingredients do not really suit you than you can always put the avocados on your skin to hydrate yourself. When avocados are involved there is no need to count your calories, just enjoy their goodness.

I learned that avocados are known as alligator pears and comes from the Aztec word ahuacati, which you can find the meaning here.

Breakfast has been served, A BEAT crossaintwich (Bacon-Egg-Avocado-Tomato) formerly known as BLT, minus the lettuce plus eggs and avocados.
Burger King has nothing on this.

Yummy..traces of tomato seeds, avocado and sharp cheddar cheese

100% natural real juice

Originated in Mexico

Thanks to the tropic climates and Mexico

More and more Avocados

Many choices to choose from

Good Terms: Pt. 2

I have been reacquainted with Nutrition and it gave me a huge wake-up call. Unfortunately, I did not pass this test but the good news is that I actually passed a whole class dedicated to Food Science and Nutrition at a Four- year university. Receiving a less than desirable grade in  Chapter nine of Milady not dedicated to my career choice is not the end of the world. Also, I turned in my extra-credit before my classmates did which puts me ahead in a way. The Nutrition is not the main focus of Esthetics, although it is important to overall skincare and is something that I can consult about if push comes to shove.

Reunited and it feels so good......

1. Adenosine triphosphate- ATP; the substance that provides energy to cells and converts oxygen to carbon dioxide, a waste product we breathe out.

2. amino acid- Organic acids that form the building blocks of protein.

3. arteriosclerosis- Clogging and hardening of the arteries.

4. B vitamins- These water- soluble vitamins interact with other water-souluble vitamins and act as coenzymes (catalysts) by facilitatitng enzymatic reacctions. B vitamins include niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, pyridoxine, folacin, biotin, cobalamine, and pantothenic acid.

5. calories- A measure of heat units; measures food energy for the body.

6. carbohydrates- Compounds that break down the basic chemical sugars and supply energy for the body.

7. cholesterol- A waxy substance found in your body that is needed to produce hormones, vitamin D, and bile; also important for protecting nerves and for the structure of cells.

8. complementary foods- Combinations of two incomplete foods; complementary proteins eaten together provide all the essential amino acids and make a complete protein.

9. disaccharides- Sugars made up of two simple sugars such as lactose and sucrose.

10. enzymes- Catalysts that break down complex food molecules to utilize extracted energy.

11. fats- Also, known as lipids; macro-nutrients used to produce energy in the body; the materials in the sebaceous glands that lubricate the skin.

12. fortified- A vitamin has been added to a food product.

13. glycosaminoglycans- A water- binding substance between the fibers of the dermis.

14. hypoglycemia- A condition in which blood glucose or blood sugar drops too low; caused by either too much insulin or low food intake.

15. linoleic acid- Omega-6, an essential fatty acid used to make important hormones; also part of the skin's lipid barrier.

16. macronutrients- Nutrients that make up the largest part of the nutrition we take in; the three basic food groups; protein, carbohydrates, and fats.

17. micronutrients- Vitamins and substances that have no calories of nutritional value, yet are essential for body functions.

18. minerals- Inorganic materials required for many reactions of the cells and body.

19. monosaccharides- Carbohydrates made up of one basic sugar unit.

20. mucopolysaccharides- Carbohydrate- lipid complexes that are also good water-binders.

21. nonessential amino acids- Amino acids that can be synthesized by the body and do not have to be obtained from the diet.

22. Omega- 3 fatty acids- Alpha-linoleic acid; a type of "good" polyunsaturated fat that may decrease cardiovascular diseases. It is also an anti-inflammatory and beneficial for skin.

23. osteoporosis- A thinning of bones, leaving them fragile and prone to fractures; caused by the reabsorption of calcium into the blood.

24. polysaccharides- Carbohydrates that contain three or more simple carbohydrate molecules.

25. proteins- Chains of amino acid molecules used in all cell functions and body growth.

26. retinoic acid- Also known as Retin- A; vitamin A derivative that has demonstrated an ability to alter collagen synthesis and is used to treat acne and visible signs of aging; side effects are irritation, photo-sensitivity, skin dryness, redness, and peeling.

27. tretinoin- Transretinoic acid, a derivative of Vitamin A used for collagen synthesis, hyperpigmentation and for acne.

28. vitamin A- Also known as retinol; an antioxidant that aids in the functioning and repair of skin cells.

29. vitamin C- Also known as ascorbic acid; needed for proper repair of the skin and tissues, promotes the production of collagen in the skin's dermal tissues; aids in and promotes the skin's healing process.

30. vitamin D- Fat- soluble vitamin sometimes called the sunshine vitamin because the skin synthesizes vitamin D from cholesterol when exposed to sunlight. Essential for growth and development.

31. vitamin E- Also known as tocopherol; primarily an antioxidant; helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun rays.

32. vitamin K- Vitamin responsible for the synthesis of factors necessary for blood coagulation.
