Color of the Day

For the past couple of days it has been raining since monday which is good to cleanse the and refresh the Earth. I am loving the rain and how it can be cool or fall down when things feel steamy and humid. Oh how the weather outside can seem frightful with the thunder and lightening; but I say "let it rain, let it rain and  let it rain."

Revlon Colorstay in Rainforest is amazing and this is my first time wearing it and how right for a Friday. The polish is such a great hue and lays on thick so two coats should be the maximum and then a top coat which is optional.

After Sun Care

As the summer days get hotter and we soak up the sun rays I know what helps to relieve the skin. Also, after  coming from the pool or beach it is necessary to cleanse and get rid of the chemicals that are residing on the skin. This ritual is perfect for cooling the skin whether or not you have a sunburn. It is amazing how being in the sun all day can naturally raise the bodies temperature which is why staying hydrated is very important in the summer.

Not only is Nozema good for the face but the whole body as well.

The first step is to run bath water than pour a generous amount( 1/2 cup to 1 cup) of the Village Company therapy aches and pains relief Bath Mineral Soak.

Than the next step is to rub the noxema on your face and allover legs, arms, abs, back and just massage in to cleanse. If you have a 12 oz. jar you can apply as much as needed because the amount is a lot to work with and lasts for at least two months. You just let it sit for awhile and rinse off and the bath water than may look like it contains a babies spit up after drinking milk.

Great for the skin on the face as well as all over the body

You will be able to feel the difference of your skin and notice that it is smooth and naturally moist. Following these steps may also be the key to dealing with ingrown hairs or preventing them because this cleansing really gets the excess oil out of the follicles. Using soap or what you normally cleanse with is optional but I did not add anything else to my skin and I feel very clean and clear. After the skin will feel cool and softer. I am happy I tried this new approach and made me think that I should have been doing this all along and is something I will continue to do.

BF=DF

As a make-up artist that has been doing make-up for two years and some change I still have a lot to learn when it comes to getting technical. I love natural make-up and something I would consider my specialty and I  have the tendency to have a vision of the outcome of the look or face I am going for. When it comes to make-up there is a process and some steps that work better in a certain order to have things run smoother.

Since I am very much into skincare and a more natural look I am not fully aware of all the lingo that other Make-up artists use. The popular term of beat face or yes I want to have the model's face beat does not sound attractive at all,  because when you think of getting beat it just correlates to violence and defeat. Oh no, though the real meaning is actually perfection or whatever so Beat face is making a doll face.

This is a simple equation of BF stands for BEAT FACE and DF stands for DOLL FACE.

beat +face= doll + face

Beat face = Doll face

Powder and more powder is the key to this equation as well as concealer to camouflage any traces of looking regular or what a normal everyday person would look like.

One of these days I will come up with a dictionary that will give a new meaning to words you thought you understood. One of my favorite words which I hear often and love because of what I understand it to mean is nigger. If I call someone nigger or greet them, "What's up nigga" because I don't know their name hopefully they will not be surprised.

Nigger- nigga (however someone wants to spell it): A person who is very hip and in the know or thinks they know and can be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, beige, white, tan, brown, black or clear.

lovely nails

I love Vivian's work and the good things about what she does is that she comes to you, wherever that maybe. She did my nails for the first time in September 2012 at a charity event raising money for AIDS in DC. You can see her work on instagram and her Tumblr page. If you like gel nails and glittery and glamorous nails than get in touch with her. The cool thing about the way she does gel nails is that she actually uses real glitter you could find from a arts and craft store.

Medusa Look

I always wanted to experience what it feels like to have a hairstyle that gives a true representation of dreads and I created this look, I like to call Medusa. I looked up all the ways of doing extension dreads and the best way for me was to use yarn. This hairstyle is such a phenomenon because you can have the look and feel of dreads without the hair being locked up. I am definitely impressed with the results and all the other varieties I have seen on YouTube videos. I love how my look came out and I choose a bright magenta yarn that was the closest color that matched my own hair at the local beauty supply store. Since this was my first time trying the extension locs I decided on short and thick parts, which took me about 18 hours to complete. My Medusa look did not come out perfect like some tutorials I have viewed but wonderful for my first time.

The supplies needed:

1. 100% Acrylic Yarn ( have to cut the length you want to use.)

2. comb

3. scissors

4. measurement tool ( legs, rules, chair etc.)

5. hair conditioner ( I used a Anti-Breakage Spray and Oil on my strands)

6. lighter is optional

7. Oil or moisturizer

This is before my natural hair straightened out or stretched out.( Purple hue faded sort of)

Grocery Store

Purchased the item on the left at Safeway on sale for less that three bucks. Both can be found at your local grocery store, CVS or Rite-Aide.

Loving the first look from African Creature......

Above is a great tutorial.

Now, if only I could come up with a video explaining to people that they must beware to look me in the face or they will turn to stone. More on the Greek Mythology of Medusa. Also, if you are into Chinese culture and astrology it is the Year of the S-S-S Snake after all.
